Hawkeye: Kate Bishop #1 is an excellent, action-packed first issue that introduces an intriguing mystery. (…) Nijkamp, Balám, and Junior have filled this page-turner with an energy that can’t be ignored. Hawkeye: Kate Bishop has all the makings of a great new series.
– CBRFor a relatively new character in the Marvel Universe, Kate Bishop has built up some serious pedigree when it comes to the writers who have helped build and popularize her character. With modern industry stars like Matt Fraction and Kelly Thompson crafting some of Kate’s most memorable adventures, taking on the challenge of penning this character’s next adventure seems like it would be more than a little daunting. Happily, writer Nijkamp looks to have the hero’s latest adventure well in hand if Hawkeye: Kate Bishop #1 sets the standard the rest of the series will follow. (…) Combining the interesting wrinkles with some classic comic book moments, like the non-reveal of a shadowy mastermind watching Kate from a tv monitor, gives the book an excellent blend of unique and classic in its story.
– But Why Tho?Hawkeye: Kate Bishop #1 pushes forward with a strong start in its debut, and this first issue finishes with that same power. (…) It is rare for Kate to miss, and this solo series is aiming to take the heroine to all-new heights.
– ComicBookHawkeye: Kate Bishop #1 is a strong start to the best Hawkeye’s newest series. Nijkamp, Balám, and co. deliver a well-crafted, character-driven opener that holds a lot of promise for the rest of the series.
– The BeatMarvel’s Hawkeye: Kate Bishop #1 is tons of fun. This creative team captures the “goofy yet capable” nature of their main character.
– Monkeys Fighting RobotsMarieke Nijkamp’s writing really captures Kate’s voice – her sense of humour, snark and confidence, which is further demonstrated by Enid Balám’s artistic style and Brittany Peer’s colour palette.
– POC CultureMarieke Nijkamp does an excellent job writing Kate as outwardly self-assured while being just enough of a mess to make her interesting (and a good Hawkeye.)
– MultiversityKate Bishop returns in a hilarious and action-packed first issue. Mystery and sass abound! What more could a Hawkeye fan ask for?
– AIPTHawkeye: Kate Bishop #2 is a fun comic that certainly warrants reading. The writer’s understanding of Kate and her voice is very clear, and there are so many pieces of dialogue that will leave the reader grinning. The story is a gripping mystery that runs parallel with a character arc about a woman not knowing where her home is.
– But Why Tho?Hawkeye: Kate Bishop #2 lets Kate’s full personality loose, resulting in plenty of quips, a bit of danger, and some bold artwork. But it’s the little details that really bring this series to life.
– Monkeys Fighting RobotsNijkamp crafts a huge second issue that continues the previously established threads by carefully teasing what’s happening. Whatever this is, Kate is at the center, and the teen hero turned Avenger turned Private Detective is at her best in her natural element, being a butt-kicking, sharp hero who knows what she’s doing.
– Comic Watch[F]ans will be left eager for more in light of a delicious cliffhanger.
– ComicBookMarieke Nijkamp continues to prove that she understands not only Kate Bishop but Hawkeye lore as well. She crafts a strong, capable, and intelligent superhero who kicks butt by pulling from every inch of Kate Bishop’s history. (…) [Hawkeye: Kate Bishop #3] continues to keep me hooked. [T]his is a comic book everyone should be picking up.
– Comic WatchI continue to love the “And Then There Were None” vibes in this mini-series! And I think the pacing of this particular issue really hone in on those quiet moments within thrillers that add to building suspense.
– POC CultureFilled with gorgeous art, this snappy installment will have fans wanting more, and a killer cliffhanger puts all of Kate’s newly acquired boons back in the hot seat.
– ComicBookHawkeye: Kate Bishop #4 is lively and fun. A nice little mystery has escalated rapidly to the point where Kate needs to ply all her skills to keep things under contr
– Major SpoilersAnother really enjoyable issue, which shows us why so many people fell in love with the character of Kate Bishop.
– SciFiPulse[Hawkeye: Kate Bishop #5] rocks. Every page of Kate’s fight scenes boasts a new layout, strong diagonals, clear action lines, curved mirrors, clean shots, ricochets, and ever-changing angles that ramp up the visual interest while putting the story first.
– ComicsXFPowerful stuff. (…) Hawkeye: Kate Bishop #5 is a really fun and pretty comic book.
– Comics BookcaseHawkeye: Kate Bishop is not a defining story, but it’s hardly a forgettable one, particularly with the reintroduction of Susan Bishop and a bunch of beautiful artwork.
